What is a skin tag?

Skin tags are small brown or flesh coloured growths, which hang from the surface of the skin. They are made from a core of fibres, ducts and nerve cells and are covered by the epidermis. Although common, they are completely harmless. Most skin tags are usually only a few millimetres in size; however they can grow over time to become as large as 5 centimetres.
